The Havant and Waterlooville School Sport Partnership provide support, advice and delivery for primary schools in all areas of Physical Education (PE) and school sport. Our aim is to help raise standards in PE and school sport, develop sports leaders, support Gifted and Talented pupils and increase participation in community sports clubs and intra and inter school competition.

Havant School Games

The Havant School Games is an opportunity to motivate and inspire young people in sport. The Havant School Games provides Level 2 inter school competitive oppoirtunities in a variety of sports. Some competitions lead onto a Level 3 (County) competition at the Hampshire School Games Finals in June. The Havant and Waterlooville School Sports Partnership is based at Havant Academy School and is managed by the School Games Organiser, Jennifer Baker.

What opportunties does the Havant School Games provide?

Competition

The world is a competitive place with challenges and pressures on all our lives to stand out from the crowd or to be successful. What better place to learn then the lessons of what it takes to be your best, to be creative and to accept winning and deal with losing than school sport? The School Games is all about the pursuit of personal excellence and being the best you can be.

Participation

In order to provide more competitive sporting opportunities, a key focus is to give more young people responsibility for the sports that are run and in the officiating and organisation of the programme offered. Whether it is as a performer or player, a reporter or a referee, the Sainsbury's School Games provide an excellent opportunity for all young people to take on a role and make a positive and active contribution to their school. Whether as an athlete, leader, official or coach the Havant School Games hopes to engage everyone - whether they see themselves as 'sporty' or not.

Health and wellbeing

Whilst we can offer more competitive sport opportunities to a greater number of young people, there are often more difficult to reach groups that are not interested in participating in traditional sports or activities. The Change4Life sports clubs programme supports young people to explore different types of activities and to engage with the School Games through an alternative route. There is something for everyone with a focus on inclusion rather than elitism.
