TKAT ACE: ‘A Champion for Every Child’ at Havant Academy

At Havant Academy, we are proud to deliver the TKAT ACE (A Champion for Every Child) Programme; a unique pastoral initiative designed to ensure every student in receipt of Pupil Premium funding has the support they need to flourish.

The core of the ACE philosophy is simple: we believe that no child should be educationally disadvantaged because of their socio-economic status. By providing a dedicated "champion" for our students, we aim to break down barriers and help every child become a confident, resilient, and successful learner.

What is an ACE Tutor?

An ‘ACE Tutor’ is a specially trained member of staff who acts as a personal mentor and advocate for your child. At Havant Academy, our ACE Tutors are a range of staff throughout the Academy to provide additional support, alongside our pastoral system. This dual role ensures that students can regularly access high-quality support from staff who understand their daily school experience.

Your ACE Tutor will:

• Form a Trusting Relationship: Act as the "go-to" person for the student.

• Identify Barriers: Work 1-on-1 to understand and tackle obstacles like poor attendance, safeguarding concerns, or behavioural challenges.

• Support Families: Maintain regular contact with parents and carers to offer guidance, share successes, or simply act as a single point of contact for the school.

• Coordinate Care: Liaise with teachers and specialised staff to ensure the student makes maximum progress.

Our Aims & Impact

We use real-time performance, attendance, and behaviour data to drive our ACE provision. For the 2025-26 academic year, our primary goals are to:

• Improve: Overall attendance, punctuality to lessons, and academic progress.

• Reduce: Recurring negative behaviors and safeguarding incidents.

• Support Wellbeing: Through dedicated staff including Mental Health First Aiders, ELSAs, and the Safeguarding Team.

How We Monitor Support (The RAG System)

We use a Red-Amber-Green (RAG) traffic light system to ensure every student receives the right level of intervention. Our staff meet daily and fortnightly to discuss these needs, ensuring no child is left behind.

Beyond the Classroom

The ACE programme at Havant Academy is part of a holistic approach to student development. ACE students also have access to:

• A broad and evolving curriculum designed to reduce barriers.

• Enrichment opportunities and career guidance.

• Specialised networks, such as the Girls' Network.
