Mayfield School from #Portsmouth have been enjoying #HavantAcademy #outdoorlearning space since the start of the New Year. This week #students from Mayfield School took advantage of the sunshine and learnt some knot tying putting hammocks up. As well as a fire for some well earned hot chocolate. Many of our Year 10 Blended Learning #students are completing #AQA Awards. For Aspects of Policing, one of our students needed to demonstrate how to secure and investigate a crime scene so we set up a crime scene to be investigated. Spotlight UK Basingstoke are raising money through a charity raffle for a week break to #Butlins. Everyone purchasing tickets are asked which school their children go to and these schools will have a chance to win £250 to spend on their pupils. The draw date is 31st January 2026.

A group of Year 8 #students are currently undertaking a 6 week programme on #FutureThinking - Metacognition. The sessions are led by representatives @southern_universities_network Students are learning: 🟣 Practical Skills - Teaching students to ask better questions, organize their thinking, and make connections between ideas 🟣 Self-Regulation - Promoting metacognitive strategies, such as reviewing one's own work and generating/testing hypotheses 🟣 Future Planning - Applying these thinking skills to make confident decisions about #GCSEs, further study, and career paths; #universities, #colleges or #apprenticeships Today's session was on questioning skills and students were able to attempt high level question skills on the topic of careers.
