This evening we welcomed the #Classof2031 to Havant Academy for our transition evening. Families and #students were able to join our Headteacher Miss Dillon-Thiselton for a welcome presentation for our new Year 7s. Parents/carers were also given the opportunity to attend various workshops which provided information on homework, Sparx, personal development, being a phone free school and reading. Skoolkit were on hand to provide information about our school uniform and Bella our #therapydog was also available to meet some of our new students. TRANSITION EVENING NEW YEAR 7s The Year 6 Transition Evening at Havant Academy is Tuesday 19 May from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This event is for our new Year 7 students and their parents & families to learn more about day to day life at the academy. A full range of staff and information will be available on the evening to provide everyone with everything they need before your child starts school in September. We encourage all parents to attend this event, even our existing parents who have a child at Havant Academy. There is always new information to be shared for the start of a new academic year. The Brilliant Club #students have been working with the University of Portsmouth looking at Criminology. They completed tutorials on 'The Dark Past: Exploring Criminology's History and Blind Spots'. All the students enjoyed the discussions and research. Our students asked some very worthwhile questions of the University’s Student Ambassadors as well as being fully engaged in all today’s sessions. Their work culminated in their final assignment to write an essay on the question "Do criminologists do more harm than good?" We are delighted with the way our students engaged with the programme and are looking forward to collaborating with The Brilliant Club again next year.
