UK Maths Trust Challenge
The UKMT (UK Mathematics Trust) competition is an intense 60 minutes of 25 multiple-choice questions designed to stretch minds and spark curiosity. With a focus on mathematical reasoning, precision and fluency, the challenge really gets students thinking beyond the obvious.
Previously, individual students of Havant Academy have entered the competition but for the first time this year, a whole Year 8 Maths class have risen to the challenge.
The UKMT (UK Mathematics Trust) is dedicated to advancing young people’s education in mathematics, primarily through organising exciting and thought-provoking competitions like this one.

Today, a group of our year 8 #students were able to visit Solent University, Southampton and learn more about University life. Mr Hawkins (Deputy Headteacher) will provide a strategic update on our cohort’s progress and offer practical tips on using the Arbor Parent Portal to stay updated on your child’s learning. Bella’s training is progressing beautifully. She is incredibly "switched on," engaged, and eager to learn, which has made the process a joy. She uses barking as a clear communication tool to signal when she is anxious or requires further guidance with a command. Bella will be heading home at the weekend and will return to school on Monday. #SkiTrip26 Day 5 – our final day on the slopes! 🎿 Back up to the peak 🏔️ one last time to take in those unforgettable views, all under perfect bluebird skies ☀️❄️ We kicked things off with some red runs for a warm-up, and by the end of the morning, most students had confidently conquered the black runs before heading in for lunch. Panda eyes all round from a full week of sunshine and skiing! 😎 What an incredible week it’s been, the progress has been amazing to watch, with everyone pushing themselves and truly becoming skiers.
