Homework
At Havant Academy, the purpose of homework is to consolidate learning from the classroom, and to develop routines and habits of revision and retrieval practice.
Homework in Key Stage 3 will only be set in Ebacc subjects (English, Maths, Science, Humanities and Languages) using the following digital platforms: Sparx, Seneca and Language Nut. In Key Stage 4 homework is set for all qualifications using the same digital platforms as above.
Homework assignments are set on Arbor - which acts like a digital homework diary - listing work to be completed and deadlines. Parents/Carers will need to download the Arbor app to monitor their child’s homework.
Any student who does not have easy access to technology to complete their homework is encouraged to use the Library at break times, or attend after school Homework Club.
- Speak to your Tutor who can email IT.
- In your IT lesson / Homework Club let the teacher know.
- See Miss Stephens in C3 at Before School, Break, Lunch or After School.
* Note - With a Google password reset you will only have 24 hours to set up a new one before needing to request another reset.

We ask that parents support their children by seeing that home learning is done conscientiously and in the best possible conditions. Facilities and conditions that are conducive to study include:
-
Access to a suitable place to study and away from distractions, including mobile phones, computer games or the TV. Research shows that it can take at least 15 minutes to return to a state of full concentration after a text message or phone call has distracted us.
-
If there isn’t somewhere quiet to work at home, encourage your child to use Homework Club (based in A4, or the Library).
-
Encourage your child to spend a set amount of time each evening on homework and take an interest in what they are studying.
-
Parents can support their children by encouraging them to engage with their Knowledge Organisers - please see the Knowledge Organiser section.
-
The frequency of homework is displayed in the table above.
