Work Experience at Groundlings Theatre Trust
Congratulations to Steven in Year 11 for his contribution to the Groundlings' production of Cinderella. He has been highly praised for his full commitment to his role in the crew, helping to ensure the show ran smoothly. The Stage Manager was particularly impressed by the respect and trust Steven earned from the Trustees, creative team and cast.

Havant Academy to host World Book Day® community token exchange hub to help reach more young readers. Havant Academy will be receiving a share of 400,000 copies of the World Book Day® £1/€1.50 books to distribute to children to help more children discover reading for fun. As part of this year’s World Book Day® celebrations, Havant Academy will be part of a nationwide community book distribution project, bringing books and the enjoyment of reading to the children of Havant. We saw the start of the Dan Larner Film Competition this week with the first session. Students in the coming months will be working in groups to write, act 🎭, direct 🎦 of film their work. This is the start of a fantastic opportunity for our #students to work with a professional actor from within the industry, learning skills such as filmmaking which are not normally accessible until further education. All entries are due by 16th July and we will be hosting a film premiere style event to showcase students work. Yesterday we hosted the first School Debate Competition. Teams from both The Hayling College and Havant Academy took part. #Students from both schools have been working hard preparing their #debates. All students were exceptional - it is never an easy task to stand in front of an audience and speak. Congratulations 🙌 to all students from both schools who demonstrated some outstanding performances. A huge thank you to Chris James from Onecom who gave up his own time to come and judge the debate as well as providing all students with some excellent feedback. Chris commented, “I was amazed by the ability and confidence of the students, I can tell some of them will be a force to be reckoned with when they are older”. The schools debate competition is going to be an annual event and we hope for other schools to join us in future years.
